NA session ends, calling for govt to pursue targets
The National Assembly’s Eighth Legislature ended its third ordinary session on May 18, calling for the government to work harder in the pursuit of development targets. In her closing remarks, NA President Ms Pany Yathotou said the 17-day session agreed on multiple points that the government should undertake to drive growth and pursue targets. The session called for the government to push central and local authorities to work earnestly in implementing adopted measures to pursue targets set in the 2017 socio-economic development and budget plans. The Assembly approved the 2017 socio-economic development plan, which set the economic growth target at 7 percent, amounting to 129,683 billion kip with per capita income set at US$2,341. The NA’s call for more diligent work came as the government estimated it would be unable to collect the targeted amount of revenue, which had been set at 23,941 billion kip for 2017.
